| 0 | Spring 2012 (March 4 – May 27) | | | 1 | FIRM FOUNDATIONS (MC-111) Taught by: Samuel Lim
Every house needs to be built on a solid foundation in order to stand. Likewise, our Christian faith must also be built on a solid foundation so that we can develop and mature while withstanding any trials or attacks that come our way. Come join us in Firm Foundations in order to be grounded in the essentials of Christianity. We will discuss key topics in theology, salvation, the Bible, and even particular distinctives of MBCLA. If you’re interested in baptism or membership, this course will also guide you through those processes. | | | 2 | THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES (Part 2) (MC-131) Taught by: Lyndon Su
In the Book of Acts, Jesus' disciples continue what He began to do and to teach after His Ascension. It is a magnificent record of the Holy Spirit transforming the most unqualified and unlikely individuals into His instruments to overcome the most formidable obstacles by employing the most unconventional methods to achieve the most remarkable results. It tells of the empowered disciples of Christ, the challenges they faced, the unstoppable Gospel they preached, and the growth of the early Church, starting in Jerusalem and extending to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth. | | | 3 | BAPTIST HERITAGE AND DISTINCTIVES (MC-112) Taught by: William Woo
terms puzzle you: religious liberty, anabaptists, ordinance, IMB, Lottie Moon, and denomination? Come learn about the Baptists, and our denomination, the SBC (the 2nd largest denomination in the USA). This course will incorporate student input. Please come to class with any Baptist related questions or email mbcla.sundayschoolquestions@gmail.com before the course begins. | | | 4 | HOME BUILDERS: RESOLVING CONFLICT [6 wks] and MASTERING MONEY IN YOUR MARRIAGE [6 wks] (G-109) Taught by: Will & Jerri Pih
This class is for engaged couples, newly married couples and seasoned veterans of marriage alike. Every marriage has its share of conflict. The difference between any two couples is not whether there is conflict, but what they do with conflict when it surfaces. Learn to transform conflicts into opportunities to energize your marriage and increase your love for your mate in a Christ-like manner. It’s no secret that financial matters are one of the top sources of conflict within a marriage. Together with the other couples in the class, spouses will learn to manage money wisely, practice stewardship in light of God’s Word, set wise financial goals that honor God and understand the principle of giving generously. | | | 5 | CHRISTIAN BIOETHICS: A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE AND MORALITY (G-102) Taught by: Pastor Francis Chung & Brian Tung
Many of the greatest controversies of our day center on ethical issues regarding life. Abortion, birth control, euthanasia, end of life decisions, capital punishment, and war are simply a few in the laundry list of ethical conundrums that face our society. What does the Bible say about these issues? What role is the church to play in addressing them? What is God’s mandate to each individual Christian about how we are to handle ethical controversies? Join us as we lay a foundation for biblical ethics and openly discuss some of today’s most pressing topics. | |
